The presence of a Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Shahbaz Khan at the press conference of the Hyderabad police to announce the apprehension of Heera Group MD created a furore among journalists.

The MIM leader and Qutbullapur in-charge, Shahbaz Ahmed Khan, whose office is near Humayun Nagar, arrived at the press conference and began filming the proceedings on his phone.

When media persons asked city Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar whether the arrest was politically motivated, Mr Khan was said to have video-recorded on his phone those who asked the question.

When the press conference was over, infuriated media persons demanded to know in what capacity Mr Khan was at the event. They said that the conference was open only to the media.

Mr Khan was then asked to delete the recording.

It was said that the MIM leader had been a vocal critic of Ms Shaik.
