Millennium march: charge-sheets in 29 cases to be filed

March 13, 2012 10:45 am | Updated 10:45 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Of the 31 cases registered in connection with the violence during Millennium March on Tank Bund last year, charge-sheet was filed only in two cases pertaining to arrest of three youths, the police said on Monday.

The charge-sheets in 29 remaining cases are yet to be filed. Charge-sheets in four cases are likely to be presented in the court on Tuesday. The sections invoked against the trio in the two cases were 188 (disobedience to law promulgated by public servant), 188 (causing disappearance of evidence or giving false information to screen offender) and 427 (mischief causing damage to property) of Indian Penal Code.

Investigation revealed that there were no conspirators in the two cases pertaining to damaging mobile phones of private persons and cameras of media persons, the police said. A total of 68 persons were arrested by the Central Crime Station probing into the Millennium March related violence cases. The conspiracy angle involving names of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and TJAC convenor Kodandaram, cropped in cases pertaining to damaging of statues and torching of police and media vehicles. A pro-Telangana advocate, Ranga Rao, moved the High Court to club all cases with similar content. The High Court directed the city police to file combined charge-sheet in all cases connected to damaging of statues and burning of police and media vehicles.
