Vamshi used to lead a lavish life by pawning the booty

He is a gold medallist in business administration with specialisation in human resources. But, Mikkili Vamshi Krishna has other qualities that make him stand out amongst such degree holders.

He has specialised in house breaking to lead a lavish lifestyle and was imprisoned several times, say the Cyberabad police.

For the last seven months - till he was caught by the police- Vamshi Krishna alias Sam Richard would commit an offence and go back to Bengaluru, where he rented a flat. He was released from prison in August last.

“After release from jail, the accused was involved in 10 housebreakings, which is in addition to his earlier 28 cases,” Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said on Wednesday.

Vamshi Krishna would do a recce of the area during day-time and break into the targeted locked houses with the help of a cutting player. He never disposed the booty at any jewellery stores, but also used to mortgage the property at Muthoot, Manappuram, IIFL and other financial institutions and take the loan to lead a lavish life, Mr Sajjanar said.

“He is a serial offender and has been committing the same crime for the last one decade. In many cases, Vamshi admits his guilt and gets the remand period into conviction,” the commissioner said.

Police recovered 80 tolas of gold ornaments, ₹1.50 lakh cash, a scooter and a smartphone from his possession.

“Despite surveillance, it is difficult to track him due to his deceiving nature and he always travels to different cities and stays in luxury hotels,” Mr Sajjanar said.

The accused was first arrested by Saroornagar police in 2006 and since then has been committing the offence and was caught by police several times , the commissioner said.
