Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) took a huge leap in transparency and production of academic books in Urdu during last four years, said Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz.

Crystal clear

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, he informed that he ensured transparency in selection of resources for teaching and other positions without giving scope for favouritism to benefit the university.

Further, he said that transparency was also brought in examinations by allowing the students to check their answer scripts after evaluation and raise grievances, if any.

Initiatives taken

He explained the initiatives taken including establishment of Directorate of Translation and Publication (DTP), Centre for Promotion of Knowledge in Urdu, two new campuses in Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh) and Cuttack (Odisha), National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit, and revival of Centre for Urdu Culture Studies.

The DTP published nearly 50 academic books in Urdu and many are under various stages of publication, he noted while adding that Instructional Media Centre too has been producing material in Urdu for online learners on a daily basis.

Facilities extended

Despite financial constraints, the university has been trying to provide all necessary facilities to the students such as sports and boarding, he added.

Mr. Parvaiz also highlighted the role of the Centre for Information Technology in offering online student services.
