‘MANUU students have an edge in journalism’

Associate editor of Frontline addresses varsity’s alumni meet

Journalism demands multilingual skills and graduates of Maulana Azad National Urdu University’s journalism department have an edge over others, said Ziya Us Salam, author and associate editor of The Hindu fortnightly Frontline .

Mr Salam was speaking at the inaugural of the varsity’s two-day national conference and first alumni meet of the department of mass communication and journalism on Friday. Urdu, he said, is an asset for employability.

A television journalist said the passionate ones will make a name for themselves in the profession and advised students not to be nervous while on assignments.

MANUU Vice-Chancellor M. Aslam Parvaiz said Urdu is a complete Indian language and added that Urdu journalism is a part of mainstream media.
