Man held for raping minor

The Santoshnagar police on Friday arrested a 20-year-old man for raping a 15-year-old girl on October 13. The accused, Syed Mubasher, and the victim’s families have been neighbours for over an year. According to the police, Mubasher, a private employee, asked the victim to come to his room around 3 p.m. on October 13. The girl refused, but Mubasher took her in forcibly and threatened to kill her, if she made any sound and then sexually assaulted her. The victim informed her family about the incident, however, Mubasher was absconding.

Temporary ban on liquor in public places

Based on reports of drunken people causing trouble on the streets, Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy here on Friday prohibited the consumption of liquor in public places from October 17 to 23. The order will come into effect from 6 a.m. on Saturday.

The order comes after reports of rampant public consumption, which have been leading to women and children particularly facing unruly situations.

154 drunk driving cases

The Hyderabad Traffic Police here booked 154 cases against drunken drivers during the daytime between October 1 and 15. And after the routine checking during night time, 1,748 persons were imprisoned this year for the same, with a total of 11,760 cases being booked against errant drivers. According to a press release 11,760 cases were booked till date.
