A business rivalry between two siblings led to a real estate agent attacking his younger brother with a sickle at Upperpally, Rajendranagar, on Sunday.
The accused, Subhas Reddy (50), and Chandrashekar Reddy (47) are in the business of supplying water to residential complexes from their open plots.
While Subhas was carrying out the business through tankers, Chandrashekar, an advocate in Rajendranagar court, used pipelines to supply water and the idea was working. “On Sunday morning, Chandrashekar’s worker unintentionally damaged one of the borewell pipelines of Subhas, following which he picked up an argument with the workers and Chandrashekar, before attacking him with a sickle,” Rajendranagar inspector G. Suresh said.
The accused bore a grudge against his brother as the latter had become an obstacle to his business and decided to eliminate him.
“Chandrashekar sustained cut injuries on his right hand and was admitted to a private hospital in the area, where he is said to be out of danger,” the police officer said.
A case of attempt to murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the elder sibling.
