The city police on Monday busted a drug racket and arrested one person at Jubilee Bus station. One kilogram of brown sugar and methaqualone worth Rs. 50 lakh was confiscated.

The police arrested 25-year-old Chiguru Ramchandram of Mustabad mandal in Karimnagar, who bought the contraband from Indore a few days ago.

“Ramchandram went to Indore and bought 600 grams of brown sugar and 400 grams of Methaqualone from Satpal. He planned to sell it at a higher price and got in touch with another person, Mohan, who may have planned to sell it in pubs in small quantities,” Additional DCP (Task Force) N. Koti Reddy said. Satpal Singh, an alleged drug supplier from Indore, and Mohan of Karimnagar, are absconding.
