Collector N. Satyanarayana has said that 64,237 quintals of maize was procured from 2,062 farmers at 33 purchase centres in the district in the current season and money would be paid to farmers within a week.

Similarly, 50,096 quintals of paddy was purchased from 7,650 farmers at 187 purchase centres. An amount of ₹88 crore had to be paid for the paddy but payments were made for ₹27 crore online, he said, attending the inaugural of a maize purchase centre at Padmajiwadi in Sadasivanagar mandal, on Friday.
He appreciated the farmers for forming 75 Dharani ACS with 959 farmers to get remunerative price for their crops avoiding the interference of middlemen.
