After a long wait for 36 years, luck smiled on senior politician from the district Errabelli Dayakar Rao. He was made a Minister by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, fulfilling a long-cherished dream.
He started his political career in 1982 with the just-formed Telugu Desam Party and had close rapport with late chief minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao. His associates from the district, including Kadiam Srihari, had become ministers but Mr Rao had not. Sharing his experience, he said he missed the chance of becoming a minister during NTR’s term and later Mr Chandrababu Naidu too had promised but he did not get the opportunity owing to caste equations. “KCR promised me and kept his word. I will work under his leadership and prove myself,” he said.
Mr Dayakar Rao was elected MLA for the first time in 1994 from the Wardhannapet Assembly constituency. Later, he got elected in 1999 and 2004. In 2009, during the reorganisation of Assembly constituencies, he shifted to Palakurthy and got elected from there. He won in 2014 and in 2018 again. He is six-time MLA and one time he got elected to the Warangal Lok Sabha seat. He joined the TRS in 2016.
There is silence among ruling party members in the district over the Cabinet expansion. Many leaders from the district, including D S Redya Naik and Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, expected to make it to the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, former Speaker S Madhusudana Chary was expected to be honoured with some prime post. Former deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari too was expecting some post. Similar is the case with Narasampet MLA P Sudarshan Reddy who was known to be a good organiser. Parkal MLA Ch Dharma Reddy’s name also made the rounds for the post.
