LRS new deadline extended till month-end

The State government has yet again extended the deadline for regularising the unauthorised layouts under the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) by another month. The deadline was earlier set till March 31.

A fresh order on Wednesday by the Municipal Administration & Urban Development department extended the deadline till April 30. The extension has been given in view of the continuing stream of applicants who are coming forward for complying with the scheme’s requirements by submitting documents and paying the fee due. It will be applicable only to applications received before March 31, the orders said.

GHMC has received a total of 71,879 applications before the due date, of which proceedings were generated for 19,431, and 3,459 were in process. Proceedings are likely to be generated for 22,890 applications by April 15. Shortfall of documents has been intimated to a total of 28,154 applicants, said Town Planning director K. Srinivas Reddy.

GHMC has received over ₹352 crore by way of layout regularisation fee during 2017 and 2018.

Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy blamed the confusion prevailing over the ‘under urban land ceiling’ as the reason for majority of the pending applications.

HMDA Commissioner T. Chiranjeevulu said not more than four to five thousand applications are pending for want of documents, and the same will be processed by the month-end.

LRS was announced in November 2015 with a 60-day deadline, which has been extended a number of times since.
