As many as 176 students across categories competed for top honours in The Hindu In School Chess Tournament held here on Sunday in association with Telangana Chess Association.

The event was held at International School, Shaikpet, in under-9, under-11, under-13 and under-15 categories. Among under-9 girls, the first and second prizes were bagged by Shashya and Anaya Agarwal. In the category of under-9 boys, K. Sai Nihal, T. Srineeth and D. Uday won the first, second and third prizes respectively.

In under-11 girls, first prize went to Sri Shantihi and second to Asma Maryam Begum. In under-11 boys category, K. Sri Krishna Praneeth, Ganesh Sai Siddarth and V Advaith won the top three prizes. In under-13 (girls), Sevitha Viju and K. Sai Sricharitha won the first and second prizes.

In under-13 category, Akash Kumar, Sanketh Reddy and Pranay Venkatesh won the first three prizes respectively. In under-15 girls category, V. Varshitha and Ashmitha Reddy won the first and second prizes. In under-15 boys category, A. Surya, Shiva Kumar and Ch Karthik Sai won, in that order. K.S. Prasad, secretary of Telangana State Chess Association was the chief guest for the event and gave away prizes to the winners. R Chandra Mouili, R Sri Ram and Kranthi Lakshmi were the arbiters.
