Lijjat president gets Council award

Telangana Legislative Council gave the best women entrepreneur award to Swati R. Paradkar, president of Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad cooperative here on Tuesday.

Lijjat Papad cooperative was established in the year 1959 with a seed capital of ₹ 80. By 2017 it reaped an annual turnover of ₹ 1,600 crore including ₹ 69 crore in exports.

The cooperative provides employment to 43,000 people and has 81 branches with headquarters in Mumbai.

Ms. Paradkar was elected president of the cooperative in 2012-13.

Under her leadership the enterprise works for the uplift of women of rural areas. Ms. Swati was also presented global economic award for outstanding contribution to women’s empowerment and self-reliance. She was also given the Mahila Vikas award at Swatch Shakthy 2017 national convention the previous year.
