Land to Jeeyar Academy: PIL seeks stay

A PIL petition seeking an order to stay operation of a sale deed of registration of 2.30 acre land by Yadadri Temple Development Authority to M/s Jeeyar Integrated Vedic Academy, in lieu of a building acquired from it, came up for hearing on Wednesday in Telangana High Court.

However, the plea was not heard as the petitioner’s lawyer was not available. A division bench headed by Chief Justice Raghvenda Singh Chauhan adjourned the matter at the request of the counsel’s junior. The petitioner Ch. Veera Chary of Lalapet wanted the court to declare the registration of 2.30 acres of land at Gundlapally village in Yadadri district to the academy as illegal.

He requested the court to direct the government to pay compensation in cash to the academy for a building acquired from it. But the compensation should not be in the form of allotting another piece of land, he said in the petition.

The petitioner contended that the government cannot give away land to persons of their choice. Jeeyar Educational Trust constructed a ground plus two-floor building near Yadadri in 2004. The temple authority allotted 2.30 acres of land to the academy in lieu of the building acquired from the Trust for a price of ₹16.50 lakh.
