The foot overbridge (FoB) at Kukatpally bus stop near the temple is complete in all respects and ready for inauguration, a press statement from the GHMC informed on Friday.

Another FoB near Mahaveer Hospital of Masab Tank is scheduled to be completed next month, it said, while elaborating on the FoB projects in the city.

It is one among the FOBs being taken up at nine locations in the city, under the public-private-partnership (PPP) mode, with limited advertisements.

Two agencies had won the bids for construction of the FoBs, and at seven locations, the construction is at various stages of progress. Change of site is proposed at one location.

The GHMC has been entrusted the task of construction of 50 FOBs at various locations across the city, and during the first phase, construction at five locations was awarded through bids under Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) mode.

Only three FoBs have been constructed so far, near Tipu Khan bridge, Langar Houz, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Banjara Hills, and National Police Academy.

Work is in progress near Mahaveer Hospital in Masab Tank, while the FOB near Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in Mehdipatnam is yet to be started as land acquisition is in process with regard to a private property and a mosque. Further, FoBs have been taken up under PPP mode, at two locations, of which the one at Muffakhamjah College is completed. For another FOB, suitable location is being explored to propose change of site from Shilparamam in view of the ongoing SRDP works there, the note said.

These apart, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority is taking up construction of FOBs at five locations. Administrative sanction has been given for construction of 52 new FOBs and eight skyways at various locations for which tenders have been called after dividing into four packages, the note said.
