KTR’s ‘prophecy’ comes true

It was an accidental meeting between IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao and his cousin and Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on the polling day on December 7 between Siddipet and Sircilla.

Mr. Rao had jocularly predicted that his ‘bava’ (brother-in-law) would win with a margin of one lakh. His prophecy came true on Tuesday when the results were announced.

Mr. Harish Rao not only improved the winning margin of 2014 but crossed the one lakh mark, defeating the BJP candidate M. Raghunandan Rao by a margin of 1.19 lakh votes.

So far this is the highest victory margin recorded in the 2018 elections. Mr. Rama Rao had also hoped that he would at least get 50 per cent of his cousin’s victory margin.

When reports last came in Mr. Rama Rao was leading by over 77,881 votes against the Congress nominee K.K. Mahender Reddy.
