KTR and officials visit Sabarmati Ashram , River Front in Ahmedabad

Minister for IT, Industries and Urban Development K.T. Rama Rao visited Sabarmati Ashram and Sabarmati Riverfront Development at Ahmedabad in Gujarat as part of the second day of his visit to that State on Saturday.

Mr. Rao along with a delegation comprising Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Navin Mittal and others visited the Sabarmati Ashram, where Mahatma Gandhi spent a good part of his life and paid tributes. Trustees of the ashram explained to the minister about the place and he spent over an hour there.After going round the ashram Mr. Rama Rao said his visit to the ashram was his good fortune. Stating that the lifestyle of Mahatma Gandhi was a model to everyone and that the Telangana government was working for the development of villages towards ‘grama swarajya’ in the path shown by Mahatma.

During his visit to the Sabarmati Riverfront Development, the minister along with the delegation of officials examined the development and beautification of the river front. They sought to know of the Sabarmati Front officials about the problems faced in beautification of the river front, shifting of people living along the banks of the river and the time taken in completing the project. They also went round the gardens, walk-ways, parks and roads.

The minister hoped that the experience of visiting the Sabarmati Front would help them in developing the Musi riverfront in Hyderabad and preparation of plans for first phase development along with mobilisation of funds were already in the process.

Meanwhile, at Textiles India 2017 state session, the minister gave a presentation including the State government policies and Warangal textiles park. He stated that the Telangana government was ready to give best of incentives for encouraging the textiles and handlooms sectors. Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Z. Irani complimented the minister for his presentation.
