In a freak mishap, Korutla legislator K. Vidyasagar Rao’s personal assistant Girish Singh was reportedly washed away in the swirling waters of the SRSP canal between Lingampet and Anthargaon bypass road in Jagtial district on Sunday.

Reports reaching here said that the Korutla legislator’s PA along with his friends Vijay, Balan and Ramakrishna had celebrated a liquor party on the shores of the SRSP on Sunday. While returning, Girish decided to have a swim in the SRSP canal waters, which was flowing to the brim. As he entered the waters reportedly in an inebriated condition, he got washed away following the heavy flow of waters.

His friends raised an alarm for help, but in vain as there were no persons in the vicinity. Following the information, the police are searching for the body in the canal waters. Girish had earlier worked as PA of then Jagtial legislator and present Telangana TDP president L Ramana. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
