KCR’s arrogance led to RTC strike: Bhatti

Congress extends support to the striking employees

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Bhatti Vikramarka questioned the government’s silence over the strike notice given by the RTC employees and asked why didn’t it respond on time.

At a press conference here, Mr. Vikramarka said the government was responsible for pushing the employees to go on strike as the employees gave the strike notice 30 days ago. The government’s responsibility lies in solving the issue rather than provoking the employees with dismissal threats and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao himself doing that is deplorable, he alleged.

Mr. Vikramarka said the Chief Minister is handling the crucial issue with arrogance rather than some responsibility. Had Mr. Rao been sincere, he would have constituted a committee of Ministers to engage with the employees and solve the issue rather than issuing threats of dismissal.

Extending the party’s support to the employees, he said Mr. Rao made big promises to the RTC employees during the Telangana agitation days and now changed his tone to threatening the employees after using them in the agitation. “Are they a burden to you now while they were a big support to you during the agitation,” he asked.

Earlier, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the RTC employee unions met Mr. Vikramarka at the CLP office and sought the party’s support to their strike. The JAC leaders explained in detail the problems and the circumstances in which they had to call for a strike.

The RTC leaders also appealed to them to join the massive protest the employees plan at Indira Park on Monday. Mr. Vikramarka agreed to their request. JAC convenor Aswaththama Reddy and others were present at the meeting.
