Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will plant three saplings at two different locations in his constituency Gajwel on Wednesday, as part of launching the Phase-IV of Haritha Haram programme.

The Chief Minister will plant first near Pragnapur Crossroads, and then proceed to plant near Indira Chowk in Gajwel town.

Along with the Chief Minister, residents of Gajwel will simultaneously plant the saplings at various locations, at the call of sirens from places of worship on Wednesday morning.

Officials have commissioned 1.25 lakh tall and healthy saplings from various nurseries, which include flowering and fruit-bearing plants like tamarind, mango, jamun, curry leaf tree, and moringa (drum stick) saplings. Of these, 75,000 are fruit-bearing plants, 16,000 will be flowering plants, and 10,000 will be forest species.

Eight clusters

The town is divided into eight clusters with the target of planting 15,000 saplings in each cluster. Special officers have been appointed for each cluster, a statement said. The aim is to plant 1,00,116 plants at the same hour. A total of 1.25 lakh pits have been dug in the municipality and a total of 60,000 tree guards too have been kept ready, the statement said.
