KCR offers tributes to Telangana martyrs

Awards presented to 52 persons for their outstanding work

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao offered floral tributes to martyrs at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park, opposite the Assembly, before proceeding to the Parade Ground in Secunderabad for the State Formation Day celebration.

Mr. Rao stood in silence for a couple of minutes on the platform in front of the column. At the Parade Ground, he presented shawls, mementos, and cash award of ₹1 lakh to 52 persons selected from various fields for their outstanding work.

The occasion was also observed by various institutions in their respective premises. Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) Chairman A. Venkateswara Reddy hoisted the national flag at Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium, while Excise Commissioner R.V. Chandravadan and Civil Supplies Commissioner C.V. Anand hoisted the tricolour at their respective offices.

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Chairman S. Satyanarayana, while speaking at the Bus Bhavan, regretted the losses suffered by the corporation on account of certain services. Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MP K. Keshava Rao unfurled the national flag at Ashoka Pillar in Kothi at a function organised by the Telangana Swatantra Senani Samithi. Freedom fighters and samithi president B. Babu Rao Verma were also present.

Taking pride

Speaking at the Formation Day celebration at Vidyut Soudha, chairman and managing director of Telangana Transmission and Generation corporations D. Prabhakar said he took pride in ensuring that there were no power cuts in the State for the past 28 months.

At Singareni Bhavan of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), its chairman and managing director, N. Sridhar, said 110 lakh tonne coal was produced additionally with a growth rate of 21% in the three years of separate Telangana.
