KCR failed to fulfill people's aspirations: Somnath Bharti

Former Law Minister of Delhi and Aam Admi Party South India in-charge Somnath Bharti has said that energies spent on public service had an effect on his family life as he could not spend enough time, energy and money on his wife and other family members.

“I have been touring South India for the last two weeks and once I go back I will sort out the issues with my wife,” he said while interacting with reporters at the Press Club of Hyderabad on Friday. Mr. Bharthi was reacting to the reports of his wife Lipika Mitra filing a domestic violence case against him with the Delhi Police.

Public service hits personal life

Mr. Bharthi, who is the MLA from Malviya Nagar constituency in Delhi, said that the first time politicians like him had concentrated on their constituencies and their problems and neglected the family.

He said that Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chairperson Barkha Singh showed personal interest in calling for a press conference to support his wife. “It was the first time the DCW was calling for a press conference on such complaints. My mother was also not allowed inside the conference hall and all these reflect the political motives behind it and the effort to defame him,” he claimed.

On the expansion of AAP in Telangana and other Southern States, he said that the party enjoyed the support of various sections and its time for consolidation. “People now believe that only AAP was sincere in rooting out corruption. We will not disappoint them,” he said adding that the party’s membership drive would start soon and the target was attracting one lakh people per month.

Hits out at KCR

Mr. Bharti said that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had failed people’s aspirations anointing family rule on the people. “Before elections Mr. KCR said that all he and his wife needed was one glass of rice as his kids were settled in the U.S. Now everyone is a Minister or a Parliament member,” he pointed out. More than thousand farmers have committed suicide and the Government is yet to react, he said.
