Junior Civil Judge arrested for allegedly raping woman

Chikkadpally police on Tuesday arrested a junior civil judge of Thungathurthi Court in Suryapet days after booking a case against him for allegedly raping a woman.

According to police, the accused, Satyarayana Rao, had allegedly promised to marry the victim but later got engaged to another about a month ago. The victim lodged a complaint against Mr. Rao after she came to know of the development.

“We have taken him in custody earlier today. A rape case has already been booked. Sections of the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been invoked. The victim has said that he allegedly exploited her and then went ahead to get engaged,” an official said on Tuesday.
