The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) on Tuesday condemned the CBI raids on the office and residential premises of NDTV founders Prannoy Roy and his wife Radhika Roy for causing alleged loss to a private sector bank.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, IJU president SN Sinha, secretary-general Amar Devulapalli, International Federation of Journalists vice president Sabina Inderjit and Press Council of India member K. Amarnath termed it an attack on independent media which did not conform to the narrative of the ruling establishment. They demanded that the government and its “coercive organs” desist from muzzling the media on trumped-up and imaginary charges.
