‘Naa Vote’ enables voters to check names in voter lists and know about allotted polling station

The State election authority has launched another first-of-its-kind IT application enabling electors to check their names in the voters’ lists besides knowing about the polling station in which their names are placed.

Christened as ‘Naa Vote’ (My Vote), the new app, operative on both Android and iOS phones, will allow the voter to search for his electoral photo identity card number with name which will in turn allow him/her to locate their respective polling station. The app would enable the user to locate the best route to reach the polling station under which he/she is enrolled, giving details of the nearest bus stop or railway station.

The highlight of the new app would be the assistance it is expected to provide to voters under the persons with disability category. The PwD voters can also request for pick up from their respective homes and drop back through the app. It will also provide information about the details of the Assembly constituency as well as the list of contesting candidates from the respective constituency to voters.

Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar formally launched the app here on Thursday and users could download the app from the Playstore. The app, the first of its kind designed in association with NGO Let’s Vote would be loaded with more features in the coming days.

Joint CEO Amrapali Kata said the app had operations across the State and users from any location could access their personal elector details as well as the details of the polling stations to which their names were assigned.

Ms. Amrapali said the logo of the app had not yet been finalised and the election authority had decided to launch a design contest inviting participants to design an appropriate logo. The participants are required to dram inspiration from the Election Commission of India and the vibrancy of Telangana in designing the app and the logo should mandatorily have the wodks ‘My Vote’ in Telugu, English, Hindi or Urdu.

The election authority had decided to present a cash award of ₹15,000 to the successful designer whose name would be announced on December 10. The contest would be open from November 30 to December 6 and interested candidates could mail their applications to naavotets@gmail.com along with screenshot of app opened on the phone.
