A 24-year-old woman cadet sub-inspector was the cynosure of all eyes on Monday.
She is the winner of Chief Minister’s Revolver for best all-round cadet SI and Home Minister’s Baton with silver end. Maloth Rama Devi, who was the parade commander for 12 contingents at Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy Telangana State Police Academy here on Monday also bagged Director General’s/Director’s medal for best in law and order and internal security.
Ms Rama Devi, who hails from poor agriculture family in Jannaram village in Khamman district led the first passing out of cadet SIs after the formation of State in 2014.
Her smiles turned to tears of joy and pride, as soon as she came off from the parade ground and met her family. She completed her B. Tech in mechanical engineering from IIIT-Basar in 2016 and started preparing for government jobs.
Ms Rama Devi was first selected for constable and after five months of training, she was selected for SI. “Even in my dream I never thought of joining the police force and after joining the academy I realised the importance of police service and its contribution to the society,” she told The Hindu .
For Khaja Lateefuddin — cadet Armed Reserve SI —it was his childhood dream to become a police officer, and his father and late grandfather inspired him to join the service. He bagged Home Minister’s Baton with silver end for best indoor cadet SI.

Third generation police officer in their family, Mr. Lateefuddin from Moulali said his grandfather late Khaja Rahimuddin retired as sub-inspector, while his father, Khaja Shamshuddin, is head constable with Kushaiguda police station.
