The IT association and the Cyberabad police took a serious note of women employees’ safety issues and took some decisions in this regard. In 2014, the city got its first women police station in Gachibowli and a separate Inspector for the IT corridor.
The Cyberabad Security Council also formed a separate women’s wing to create awareness on crime against women.
In 2014, quite a lot of mobile apps, related to women safety, were released and promoted. The Cyberabad Commissionerate too promoted one such app recently. Hyderabad just turned more Hi-Tec as free wi-fi spots were introduced in and around Madhapur and Gachibowli.
2014 was the year of start-ups. A number of start-ups started to mushroom in the city and keeping pace with them were the various events organised to encourage and nurture the young entrepreneurs.
The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) launched a programme titled ‘Retrofitting of Existing IT Parks in Cyberabad Zone’ in 2014.
The initiative, included making existing building green, improved waste management in industrial parks, promotion of ‘cycle-to-work’, increasing green cover in the zone and storm-water management along with rain water harvesting.
The new TRS government has been promising an IT policy that will help Hyderabad race ahead of other IT destinations in the country.
The IT policy is all set to be unveiled in 2015. IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao assured that the country’s largest incubator will be in Hyderabad in the coming few days.
The city is also expected to be completely Wi-fi enabled in the coming year.
Moving on from Madhapur and Gachibowli, the new government is trying hard to promote Adibhatla, Pocharam, Uppal, Medchal and Shamirpet as new IT hubs. Many big and small IT firms are expected to set up base here in 2015.
