Inter student commits suicide

A first-year Intermediate student at Narayana Junior College, Madhapur, hanged himself to death on Wednesday.

K. Sai Kumar, hailing from Bellampally in Adilabad district, was a BiPC student.

Police said Sai had arrived from his native place to attend classes a week ago.

On Wednesday, he went to the washroom in the hostel and hanged himself using a cloth.

Police are investigating.

Woman murdered

An unidentified woman, aged about 30 years, was found murdered at Chengumul of Chevella in Ranga Reddy district on Wednesday. Chevella police inspector K. Shilpavali said the body of the woman bore head injuries and some burns on her face.

Police suspect that the woman might have been with known persons who could have murdered her. Police are investigating.

Succumbs to burns

S. Sarita (25), a housewife from NTR Nagar, who was undergoing treatment for burns she had sustained in her alleged immolation bid on Saturday, died on Wednesday. Police said she was suffering from stomach pain and was depressed over it. The L. B. Nagar police are investigating.

Burglar arrested

The Nallakunta police on Wednesday arrested a house burglar Avula Kiran Kumar and recovered gold ornaments weighing 14.6 tolas and 32 kg of silver all worth Rs. 4 lakh. Police said the accused had committed five house burglaries in Nallakunta, Saidabad, Kanchanbagh and Meerpet areas after he came out on bail from prison in June last year. He was involved in several house burglary offences in the last few years.

Run over by train

A 56-year-old man was run over by a train on Tuesday evening at Shamshabad.

The victim, identified as Khali Ram, was crossing the tracks near the Shamshabad railway station when he was hit by the train.

The Kachiguda railway police have registered a case.

Dies of injuries

Kasim Peera (23), a labourer from Gandhinagar, died at the Osmania General Hospital on Wednesday while undergoing treatment for injuries sustained after collapsing in an inebriated state at Banda Maisamma temple. Peera, a JCB machine operator, hailed from Kadapa. Police are investigating.
