Independence Day celebrated with fervour

Progress of various welfare programmes highlighted

The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts.

Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna and Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy were chief guests at the celebrations at Adilabad and Nirmal while government whip Nallala Odelu and advisor to Government Rajiv Sharma were chief guests at Mancherial and KB Asifabad districts. In Nizamabad Agriculture Minister P. Srinivas Reddy unfurled the Tricolor national flag at the police parade grounds, while government whip G. Govardhan hoisted it on the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kamareddy.

The speakers recounted the progress which the districts have made during the last one year. Specific mentions were made of the ongoing Telanganaku Haritha Haram and other flagship programmes. School students presented cultural programmes.

The chief guests gave away certificates of appreciation for meritorious service to employees and officials from various departments including the police department. A presentation of progress made in the district was made through a tableux involving key departments.

National flag was hoisted at all public and private offices and offices of the political parties.

At Telangana University Vice-Chancellor P. Sambaiah, At Nizamabad District Court complex Principal District and Sessions Judge K. Sumana, at Nizamabad Police Commissionerate Commissioner of Police Kartikeya and at the Collector Office Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy unfurled the national flag.

Independence Day was celebrated at Congress, BJP, TRS, TDP, TJS and other political party offices.

At TSSP 7th battalion at Dichpally Commandant N.V. Sambaiah hoisted the Tricolour and received guard of honour.
