A promotional activity that she did six years ago has come back to haunt Genelia. Tirupathaiah, a pensioner, had filed a complaint against the actress and Anjaniputra Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd for failing to construct a duplex house as promised. In his complaint, Tirupathaiah stated that the company had claimed that Genelia was also one of the directors. Genelia, however, refutes these claims. Excerpts from the interview:

In what capacity were you associated with Anjaniputra Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd?

I did a one-day photo shoot for Anjaniputra Infrastructure Pvt Ltd six years ago even before the current project commenced. That was the extent of my interaction with them and my association with them ended that day itself.

The complainant, according to reports, has stated that in the promotional campaign you declared that you are one of the directors of the firm and you too have bought plots. What would you say to this?

I am in no way connected to the company, their policies, assets or liabilities. Neither am I their brand ambassador nor am I on the board or directors of this company. I don't own any land or plot in it. For me, all that my association meant was doing that standalone photo shoot.

After these allegations, have you got in touch with the real estate firm?

I was never in touch with them directly in the first place and there was no reason for me to do so. I was approached for the standalone campaign photo shoot by a coordinator of an agency.

Beyond that, I had no interaction with them. It was shocking to read such incorrect and misrepresented information in the papers especially since I've had no association with the firm or their brands or projects in the last six years. I'm disappointed that things have been blown out of proportion with no facts to support the claims.
