IICT team gets CSIR award

The membrane team of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology here, led by S. Sridhar, Senior Principal Scientist, was awarded the CSIR Technology Award 2018 for Innovation, & Certificate of Merit by CSIR, New Delhi.

The award was bestowed by Union Minister for Science & Technology, Harsh Vardhan, in the presence of Secretary, DST and Acting CSIR Director General Prof. Ashutosh Sharma last month, for the team’s work on ‘innovative, low-cost membrane systems as import substitutes for production of medical grade water and resource recover’.

Team members include Pavani Vadthya, Siddhartha Moulik, Y.V.L. Ravikumar, M. Madhumala, Nivedita Sahu, S.S.Chandrasekhar and Bukke Vani. They had designed a fully automated, cascaded reverse osmosis system as an import substitute for production of ultrapure water for medical, laboratory and biochemistry applications, to replace expensive systems supplied by multinational companies.
