Chief Minister of Telangana K.Chandrasekhar Rao promised that his government would never err on the wrong side with regard to any decision on the future of the State even if it meant delays with regard to some matters.

Speaking at the centenary celebrations of former deputy chief minister J.V.Narsing Rao on Wednesday, Mr. Rao, in his characteristic style, said he would lose his life but not commit any wrong.

“Whatever be the reason, people have given this opportunity to TRS. We shall attempt to learn and comprehend matters which we are not familiar with, even if it means delay of a few months. But we shall never take a wrong step,” Mr.Rao assured.

Men and positions are not permanent, but taking forward the State which has been achieved after many difficulties is of paramount importance. Taking a shot at criticism mounting against him over various issues, Mr.Rao said the present day politics is marked by intolerance. Nobody has the mind to discuss and arrive at decisions for the benefit of the State, he said. Praising Narsing Rao as a man who endured much humiliation for what he believed in, Mr. Rao said that the State would accord due honours to him, along with the likes of P.V. Narasimha Rao, Dasarathi Rangacharya, Kaloji Narayana Rao, Jayashankar and Konda Lakshman Bapuji. He had high praise for G. Venkataswamy too, whose statue he unveiled a few days ago. Responding to a jibe by leader of the Opposition K. Jana Reddy who had spoken before him, Mr.Rao said no person born in Telangana remained without dreaming of separate State. Though there was great aspiration among people, realisation of the dream took so long that people like Narsing Rao did not live to see it. However, Mr. Reddy was a blessed soul, as he could see it in his lifetime, Mr. Rao quipped.

Mr. Reddy likened the Congress leaders’ role in achievement of Telangana State to that of Narsing Rao who, he said, made efforts for Telangana State by representing the demand before Fazal Ali Commission.

Book release
