Two construction workers were buried alive, while another suffered severe injuries, on Saturday afternoon when the compound wall of TSSPDCL office in Amberpet collapsed.

All of them were from erstwhile Mahbubnagar district and are residents of Ramnagar here, said M. Ramesh, DCP East Zone.

The victims were identified as Venkataiah and Chandru.

Another labourer, Das, was trapped beneath the debris and rescued by police.

The incident took place between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m..

The building of Anu Packing Company, a private bottle led manufacturing unit near Ali Cafe in Amberpet, was being expanded.

The DCP said the company’s owner, Ramesh, is absconding and had undertaken expansion work without approval from GHMC.

The labourers were digging a pit and dumping the soil in the TSSPDCL office's compound.

“The wall collapsed due to pressure,” the DCP said.

The bodies were shifted to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, Amberpet legislator G. Kishan Reddy, along with Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin and GHMC Zonal Commissioner Raghu Prasad visited the spot.
