High Court special benches dispose of 48 old cases

Forty-eight cases pending for the past several years were disposed of by the Telangana High Court here on Saturday.

The cases were adjudicated by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A. Abhishek Reddy and Justice G. Sri Devi, Justice T. Vinod Kumar and Justice K. Lakshman. The division bench and the single benches of three judges heard the matters separately and finalised the cases.

The hearings were held as part of the HC’s decision to hold special benches on the first and third working Saturdays of every month to dispose of old cases. November 2 being the first Saturday of the month, the special benches assembled and heard the matters.

The division bench decided four old criminal appeals and Family Court Appeals. The benches of the three judges adjudicated old criminal cases, first appeals, City Civil Court Appeals and Civil Revision Petitions. The HC said the list of old cases, which were likely to be taken up for hearing with the consent of the both the counsels, would be published well in advance on its official website.
