The Supreme Court Collegium on Friday has resolved to recommend Telangana High Court Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan for appointment as Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.

With the retirement of Calcutta Chief Justice D.K. Gupta on December 31, 2018, the post had fallen vacant. The Collegium decided to transfer Telangana CJ Radhakrishnan to Calcutta HC.

A formal order has to be notified in this regard by the Union Ministry of Justice and Law. Telangana CJ Radhakrishnan was transferred from Chhattisgarh HC to the Hyderabad High Court of Judicature for the States of Telangana and AP States last year. He assumed charge on July 7, 2018 as Hyderabad HC CJ.

With the notification for constitution of separate HCs for Telangana and AP, he took over as CJ of Telangana HC from this January 1. The Collegium has also recommended that Justice D.S. Naidu of Kerala High Court be transferred to Bombay High Court. Earlier, the Collegium decided to repatriate him to his parent HC of AP.
