Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) former president G. Vivekanand received a setback on Tuesday when Hyderabad High Court declined to pass an order suspending his disqualification as HCA president.
Earlier, former Chief Justice of Patna High Court and HCA Ombudsman Justice L. Narasimha Reddy disqualified Vivekanand as HCA president. The Ombudsman was appointed in tune with Justice Lodha Committee recommendations.
Challenging the order, he moved the HC seeking interim relief through an order staying his suspension. Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy of the HC heard the petitioner and declined to pass orders staying the suspension.
Hyderabadi and former skipper Mohammad Azharuddin along with others filed a complaint with the Ombudsman charging that Vivekanand was ineligible to be HCA president stating that the HCA had commercial contract with Visakha Industries owned by his family. They also alleged that he was holding an Office of Profit by virtue of being Advisor to Telangana government.
The Ombudsman issued an order disqualifying him as HCA president. Following this, he moved the HC. Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy dismissed his petition and also rejected his plea not to hold elections to HCA.
