With growing patronage for Sanskrit language and Bhagavad Gita recitation programmes organised at Balaji temple in Chilkur from villagers and children, the Chilkur Gram Panchayat has adopted a resolution to organise such programmes in all villages, schools and temples.

The resolution passed on November 30 to mark Bhagavad Gita Jayanti, said that such activities would not only propagate Hindu dharma, but also encourage spiritual thinking among individuals and lead to creation of a peaceful society.

Mr. Tirumalesh and his wife Kavita, who are conducting the programmes for the last one year, in a report said that children in the age group of 3 years to 16 years in Chilkur village who earlier used to watch television were enthusiastically attending the classes from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Many children have mastered 150 slokas in four chapters out of 700 slokas in 18 chapters of Bhagavad Gita so far and many of them also staged Sanskrit plays, skits and in various programmes organised in the temple on festival occasions.
