A. Vineeth Reddy, 19, turned out to be the accused in the murder of his grandmother, S. Veeramma, 68, reported five days ago in Nacharam of Cyberabad.

The police arrested Vineeth and a housewife, Ch. Laxmi, with whom he was allegedly having an affair, in the sensational murder for gain reported five days ago. Vineeth admitted to the police that he had eliminated his grandmother after she caught him while he was spending time with the woman in his house at Green Hills Colony of Mallapur in Nacharam.

Already, the accused a nursed grudge against his grandmother as the latter refused to oblige his request to buy him a bike, the Malkajgiri ACP, Ch. Radhakishan Rao, said. Vineeth is son of Veeramma's daughter. He also believed that she was affectionate towards the children of her son and ignored him.

On February 4, Veeramma went to Vineeth's house on some work and found him with Laxmi. She reprimanded both of them and started calling the neighbours, stating that they would lay bare their relationship. This was when Vineeth smashed her head with a pestle.

Later, he and Laxmi collected the jewellery the old woman wore, stuffed her body in a bag and dumped it at an isolated place in the area. Police grew suspicious about Vineeth's role in the murder after the sniffer dogs headed to his house on the day of the murder.

During further probe, they found bloodstains in his house and took him into custody. The two accused were remanded to judicial custody.
