District officials informed the residents of Mamidyala village in Mulugu mandal, who are likely to be displaced due to submergence under the proposed Kondapochamma reservoir limits, that they would deposit ₹ 7 lakh into the account of those who approached the court demanding implementation of the Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act – 2013 (LA Act – 2013).
As many as 36 persons from the village approached the court demanding implementation of LA Act- 2013 and based on their request the High Court directed the officials to conduct the gram sabha. The gram sabha organised on Friday was attended by RDO D. Vijayender Reddy, MRO Nagamani and other officials.
The villagers asked the officials how they arrived at the figure of ₹ 12 lakh per acre under the project and how they were giving an assurance to pay ₹ 7 lakh only to those who approached the court. “The officials have answered only some of our questions and many were not answered. We will finalise our plan of action shortly,” said Thammala Srinivas, one of the land oustees who approached the court.
