The Telugu Desam Party Telangana State unit has demanded that the Government come out clearly on whether the Miyapur land issue is being probed by the police or the CB-CID officials.
Given the alleged involvement of some high profile names in the scandal, the Government was trying to sidetrack the investigation by its claims that the probe had been entrusted to the CB-CID. The case, the TDP-TS alleged, was yet to be handed over to the CB-CID and this exposed the Government’s efforts to create obstacles in the investigation.
TDP-TS president L. Ramana and working president A. Revanth Reddy told reporters here on Thursday that though the Government had named an industrialist as key accused in the case, the name was not included in the first information report so far.
No clarity
There was no clarity on whether the three main accused in the case who were arrested had been handed over to the CB-CID for further investigation.
Mr. Revanth Reddy said the three accused had applied for a bail in the Supreme Court and the State Government had not deputed advocate general or solicitor general to defend the case. “This exposes the Government’s plan to dilute the argument against the accused and let them go scot free,” he alleged. There was no formal statement from the Chief Minister’s Office after the irregularity, amounting to few thousands of crores, came to light.
Pressure mounted
Though the TDP-TS leaders tried to represent the issue to the Chief Secretary and Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, they were not given appointments for three days. “There is no response to an online petition submitted to the Governor and this indicates the amount of pressure that is mounted on him,” he alleged.
The TDP-TS leaders had therefore decided to seek the appointment of CBI director and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to represent the matter to them. The TDP-TS was firm that investigation by the State agency like CB-CID would not serve any purpose as several politicians and bureaucrats were involved in the scandal, he added.
