The State government has fixed the amount of subsidy on various seed to be supplied to farmers under Central and State schemes for the coming kharif season.
In the orders issued on Saturday, Principal Secretary (Agriculture) C. Parthasarathi said 35% of the sale price fixed would be given as subsidy on redgram, greengram, blackgram and groundnut seed developed by government agencies. The amount of subsidy is fixed as ₹1,000 per quintal for less than 10-year-old paddy varieties and ₹500 per quintal for more than 10-year-old paddy varieties of government seed.
After subsidy, the sale price of government seed for redgram would be ₹5,184 per quintal, ₹5,460 for greengram, ₹5,297.50 for blackgram and ₹4,160 for groundnut.
On private hybrid seed of maize, jowar, bajra, castor, sunflower and paddy crops, the subsidy allowed is ₹3,500 per quintal or one-third of the base price, whichever is lower, according to the government order.
