The Telangana Telugu Desam Party criticised the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti for its failure to utilise the monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly to instil confidence among the farmers who faced acute crisis.
The ruling party used most of the session for criticising the TDP and completed the proceedings after suspending the entire opposition from the House. “The government’s claims that it has done whatever possible is highly undemocratic,” TDP polit bureau member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy said.
He was particularly critical of Minister K.T. Rama Rao for his comment that the Opposition ought to have been in the House during the debate on the water grid project. “The remark is tantamount to ridiculing the opposition and the democratic process,” he said.
The government should come out with clear policy on the compensation that would be paid for kin of farmers who committed suicide from June 2 last year, he said. The TTDP would highlight the government’s failures during the bandh on October 10.
