Faulting Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan for remaining silent on the “excesses” perpetrated by the Telangana government on the people from Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party has demanded that the Centre intervene in the matter and protect the constitutionally guaranteed rights of the people.
At a press conference here on Sunday, senior TDP leader S. Chandramohan Reddy alleged that the Governor appeared ``biased'' in favour of the TRS government and was ‘discriminating’ against people of AP. There were several instances where the rights of AP people were violated, but the Governor remained mute spectator to the incidents. He wondered why the Governor was unwilling to ensure enforcement of Section 8 of the Reorganisation Act at a time when all sections including the lawyers complained that it was being flouted by the TS government.
Stoic silence
Mr. Reddy cited several instances, including the humiliation of AP people, alleged phone tapping of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, seizure of funds of the corporations and indiscriminate transfer of 1,200 employees and said the Governor was still maintaining stoic silence on the actions of the Telangana government.
