Governor asks V-Cs to utilise RUSA funds

Get a matching grant from the State government: Tamilisai

Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan directed the Vice- Chancellors of seven universities, which have been selected to get funds under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) from the Union Government, to take appropriate steps to utilise the funds without any lapse by March 2020.

The Governor also directed them to take necessary steps to fill the vacant posts of all faculty positions and get a matching grant from the State government.

Ms. Soundararajan held a meeting with the officials of RUSA at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.

She was reacting to a complaint she received stating that Telangana received RUSA funds to the tune of over ₹100 crore, but they were likely to be lapsed due to non-release of the matching grant. The seven universities that have been selected for the RUSA funds are – JNTU; Osmania University; Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad; Kakatiya University, Warangal; Telangana University, Nizamabad; Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda; and Palamur University, Mahabubnagar.
