Gold merchant robbed of 3 kg. ofgold ornaments in Hyderabad

A gang of robbers on Friday night looted three kilograms of gold ornaments from a jeweller after attacking him at Mehdipatnam. Hyderabad Commissioner, M Mahendar Reddy told press persons here that, the trader Narsimha Reddy of Vaishanavi jewellery in Old City came to Mujtaba jewellers at Mehdipatnam carrying gold ornaments along with him.

He showed different ornaments to the management of Mujtaba jewellers and gave them a part of the consignment.

Having finished the task, Narsimha Reddy left the store and walked about a hundred metres when a group of unidentified persons waylaid him. “One of the gangsters hit Narsimha on head with an iron rod or wooden stick, snatched the bag containing gold ornaments and escaped,” the official said.

On receipt of information the police reached the spot. “We have identified the offenders. Efforts have begun to nab them,” Mr. Reddy said.
