The GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited on Wednesday announced the receipt of the Carbon Neutrality (Level 3+) Certificate from the Airports Council International (ACI) at a function held in Doha, Qatar recently.
The prestigious certificate was received by the airport’s Chief Executive Officer S.G.K. Kishore, Chief Operating Officer Manish Sinha and Head (Safety & Environment) Narayanaswamy from the President of ACI-Asia Pacific, Kerri Mather. The status was conferred in December last, on the GMR Group that operates the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad here. The certification comes under ACI’s Airport Car Accreditation Programme that is the industry standard for assessment of an airport’s efforts to manage and reduce carbon emissions. The programme was launched in June, 2009 and comprises four levels.
The GMR Airport has progressively got accreditation from Level 1 (mapping), Level 2 (reduction) in 2012 and qualified for Level 3 (optimisation) before reaching the fourth and the highest accreditation – Level 3+ for neutrality under the programme, said Mr. Kishore in a press release.
