Eminent poet’s contribution to Telangana cause remembered

Rich tributes were paid to renowned poet Dasaradhi Krishnamacharyulu on his 94th birth anniversary, held officially by the Language and Culture Department here on Sunday.

Recollecting the invaluable contribution to Telangana movement by the late Dasaradhi, Chairman of Telangana Sahitya Akademi Nandini Siddha Reddy said Dasaradhi spent his life to keep up the self-esteem of Telangana and not for himself.

It was the responsibility of all the people in Telangana to remember him always, when Dasaradhi had dedicated his life to Telangana, Mr. Reddy pointed out.

Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy said Dasaradhi had caused a chill in the spine of Nizam with his poetry, which became a rallying point for the Telangana cause.

Legislative Council Chairman K. Swamy Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Md. Mahamood Ali, Telangana Grandhalaya Parishad Chairman Aayachitam Sridhar, Advisor to Government on Culture K.V. Ramanachary, OSD Deshapathi Srinivas were among those who recollected the contribution of Dasaradhi not only to the Telangana cause, but also to the field of literature.

Later, poet and writer Vajjala Shivakumar was presented with Dasardhi award for 2018.
