“Give me a chance, and I will prove that I am different,” pleads the city BJP unit president, B. Venkata Reddy as he seeks support from the people in Akberbagh.
“You have given an opportunity to the MIM candidate, Ahmed Balala and he has done nothing for you,” he says as he interacts with people and promises them of making a difference to the Malakpet constituency for which he is contesting in the Assembly elections. “People want freshness and they seem to be clear about as the MIM has indulged only in dividing people and did nothing for the common man,” Mr. Reddy said.
Like all other BJP-TDP candidates, Mr. Reddy too is banking on the charisma of Mr. Narendera Modi, anti-incumbency factor and the development done during the TDP regime. “Many educated Muslim youngsters got into IT field but during the 10-year Congress and MIM rule they have brought them back on roads,” he said. “If they vote for MIM it’s like voting for the Congress.”
“There is a tremendous response and people tell me that they want to see Mr. Modi as the next Prime Minister and BJP will get their votes,” Mr. Reddy says. People are seeing the BJP-TDP combine as a developmental model for the country, and they are pre-determined to vote for the alliance, he says acknowledging the support of GHMC TDP floor leader, Singireddy Srinivas Reddy and the cadre.
“How long the MIM can keep the Muslims in dark,” he questions and says he is getting good response from them too. In fact, he visited several dargahs and sought the blessings of senior Muslims during the campaign. Mr. Reddy also promises better facilities to businessman in Malakpet Gunj and says they will not face any harassment from the leaders. “My performance as Amberpet Corporator is well-known and I will live up to the people’s expectations,” he promises.
