Girl accuses father of sexual harassment

A 13-year-old girl on Monday approached the Medipally police charging her father of sexually harassing her. The girl, who stays along with her parents and three siblings at Boduppal alleged that her father, an auto rickshaw driver, regularly asks her to bring liquor from a nearby wine shop and sexually abuses her at the house.

She also charged her mother of physical torturing her.

Following the harassment, the girl left the house the previous day and went to her grandmother, who stays in Secunderabad. On Monday, she approached Balala Hakkula Sangam, an NGO engaged in protection of child rights, whose volunteers who took her to the police.

“Based on the girl’s statement, we registered a case under the Juvenile Justice Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and are investigating,” Medipally Inspector B. Naveen Reddy said.
