GHMC to deploy 81 special emergency monsoon squads

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to deploy 81 special emergency monsoon squads in the city as against 18 such squads deployed last year. Five auto-tippers and four labourers for each division will also be pressed into service. GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar, after a review meeting Thursday, said that all precautionary measures to avoid untoward incidents were being taken.De-silting of nalas, storm water drains, pot holes and water stagnation points in low lying areas are being attended to. Haritha Haram project related works have also been reviewed and the civic body is planning to come up with 50 lakh plants in all educational institutions, lakes and open places.

Building permissions

The recently constituted committee of elected representatives made proposals on the issue of building permissions by the GHMC in a transparent manner.

The GHMC is planning to receive building applications online.
